One of the first car wrap colour simulators in the world: why a Dubai studio built its own

Every car wrapping studio has the same problem: the customer chooses a colour from a film sample the size of a hand, and then sees the whole car in it only when the job is done. We decided to close that gap. In autumn 2026 we built a colour simulator into our website: pick your car from 78 models, tap one of 20 wrap colours, and the picture changes on the spot. As far as we know, we are one of the first car wrapping studios in the world to offer this on its own site, for its own colours, straight next to the booking button.

Porsche 911 in chameleon wrap: a visualisation from the Desert Diamond colour simulator, Dubai

What we launched

The simulator lives at the top of our car wrapping page and on its own page, Your car. Your colour. A row of quick buttons holds the most requested cars: Mercedes-AMG G63, Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Bentley Continental GT and Bentayga, Mercedes GLE, Porsche 911, Cayenne and Panamera. The "Other car…" list adds seventy more models from BMW to Tesla. Under the car is a palette of 20 colours: white, sakura pink, candy red, emerald, royal blue, satin black, chrome, chameleon and the rest. One tap, and the car on the screen changes colour.

Why a wrapping studio needed its own simulator

A wrap is a decision for a year or two. A customer who regrets the colour on handover day is a customer we have let down, even if the film was laid perfectly. For years the only tools were a swatch book and our own photos of past jobs. Both help, but a sample on the palm says little about a whole G-Class in satin olive, and a photo of someone else's car is never your car.

So the brief we gave ourselves was simple: the customer should see their own model, in our actual colours, before they ever come to Al Quoz. Not a generic car, not a paint colour from a manufacturer's configurator, but the film we lay, on the body they drive.

What makes it one of the first

Colour tools existed before us, but of a different kind. Car makers have paint configurators for new cars, and film manufacturers show their catalogues on one or two generic silhouettes. What we could not find anywhere was a wrapping studio showing its own palette on dozens of real models, inside its own booking flow. To our knowledge, that makes Desert Diamond one of the first car wrapping studios in the world with a colour simulator of its own, and the first in Dubai.

  • **78 real models from 16 brands**, each in all 20 colours: 1,560 visualisations, not one generic car.
  • **Our palette, not a catalogue**: the 20 colours are the films we actually lay in the studio, from satin black to chameleon.
  • **One scene for every car**: the same Dubai waterfront and the same light, so colours can be compared fairly between models.
  • **From picture to booking in one tap**: the WhatsApp button sends the car and the colour to our team, with the message already written.
  • **Built for phones**: most of our customers choose on the way, so the simulator loads only the picture you are looking at.

How it was built

Every car was rendered once as a white base in the same scene, then recoloured into the 20 films with generative image tools and checked by our team frame by frame: headlights, chrome, glass and the plate must stay untouched, only the body changes. Where a render did not pass, it was redone. The whole set took about three weeks and roughly as much patience as a full-body wrap.

The result is a visualisation, and we say so on the page: it is not a photo of your car and not a photo of our finished work. Real jobs are in our works. The simulator's job is narrower and, we think, more useful: to take the guesswork out of the first decision.

What happens after you tap WhatsApp

The message arrives with your car and colour already in it. Our manager replies with the real film samples for that colour, photos of similar jobs from the workshop and the next free slot. If you are in Dubai, you can hold the sample next to your car in daylight at our studio in Al Quoz before anything is booked. Everything about the service itself, from the films we use to how long a wrap lasts, is on the car wrapping page.

What is next

The list of cars grows on request: if your model is missing, tell us in WhatsApp and we add it. New films go into the palette the week we start laying them. And for those who want to know how to use every button, there is a separate step-by-step guide to the simulator.

FAQ

Is the simulator free and does it need an app?

Yes, it is free, and it works in any browser on a phone or a computer, without registration.

Will the real film look exactly like the picture?

Close, but not pixel for pixel: screens differ and so does daylight. That is why we always show the real sample on your car before the wrap.

Can I try a colour that is not in the palette?

Write to us: for a specific film we can show samples in the studio and photos of jobs in that colour.
